Corey Haim Dies at 38
Actor and 80's teen idol Corey Haim was found dead at the age of 38 of an apparent accidental overdose this morning in his Oakwood, CA apartment. Haim has struggled with drug abuse, some of which was documented on A&E reality show The Two Coreys and E! True Hollywood Stories.
Born in Toronto, Haim got his first big breaks starring alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Sarah Jessica Parker in the 1984 movie Firstborn. The next year, he landed the lead in the Stephen King adaptation Silver Bullet, starring alongside Garey Busey. During his breakout years in the mid to late 80's Haim would garner several nominations and two wins at the Young Artist Awards, notably for his performances in Lucas and License to Drive. It was his work in the 1987 teen-vampire flick The Lost Boys that catapulted him to pop-culture superstardom. Boys was also his first teaming with what would become his frequent collaborator, Corey Feldman. The pair worked together on 9 movies and reunited in 2007 for The Two Coreys, which lasted two seasons. Haim's most recent mainstream film was 2009's Crank: High Voltage.
