• A Japanese trailer for video game adaptation Street Fighter has hit the web, and the flick looks like arse. Generic arse.
• Check out the new trailer for Two Lovers, Joaquin Phoenix's alleged "last movie." The story revolves around "Leonard, a
charismatic but troubled young man who moves back into his childhood
home following a recent heartbreak. While recovering under the watchful
eye of his parents (Isabella Rossellini and Moni Monoshov), Leonard
meets two women in quick succession: Michelle (Gwyneth Paltrow), a
mysterious and beautiful neighbor who is exotic and out-of-place in
Leonard's staid world, and Sandra, the lovely and caring daughter of a
businessman who is buying out his family's dry-cleaning business."
• Tokyo Sonata
tells the story of a the slow breakdown of a typical Japanese family.
The film will undoubtedly have a quiet release in the U.S., where popular
expectations of Japanese cinema are limited to anime, gangland tales,
and stories of corporate intrigue. But those interested in a more human connection with another culture may want to check it out. Trailer below:
