Kapur To Direct Minghella’s New York Story
Shekar Kapur, director of Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age, will direct one of Anthony Minghella’s last pieces of writing, a chapter in the urban tapestry New York, I Love You. Minghella had planned to direct his segment of the episodic film but, according to Kapur, asked the Indian-born director to take over before he went in for surgery two weeks ago. “He told me his film was about the value of life and how people just throw away their lives, unable to look beyond into the real beauty of it,” Kapur wrote on his blog. “I will direct the film now – with Anthony in my heart and in presence of his soul.” New York’s producers say they're still waiting to hear from Minghella’s family before making any decisions.
