02.27.08: Paul Dano Gets 'Gigantic', Wahlberg and DiCaprio Do 'Cocaine'

Following his breakout double-role in There Will Be Blood, Paul Dano has signed on for Gigantic, a quirky romantic comedy directed by first-timer Matt Aselton. Zooey Deschanel will co-star in the loved-up tale of a mattress salesman and a female shopper. No word yet on whether she’ll be drinking his milkshake. Dano is also set to reunite with his L.I.E. co-star Brian Cox for the indie feature The Good Heart, which he’ll segue into straight from Gigantic. More at The Hollywood Reporter
Wahlberg Lands DiCaprio
According to the New York Post’s Page Six column, Mark Wahlberg has convinced Leonardo DiCaprio to play a supporting role in the narrative reworking of documentary Cocaine Cowboys. Wahlberg is playing real-life drug kingpin Jon Roberts, America’s biggest cocaine trafficker in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, while DiCaprio will play a pilot who travel’s with Roberts down to the Colombian lair of drug-lord Pablo Escobar. …Although he no longer goes by that stony soubriquet, the ex-wrestler having quietly morphed into Dwayne Johnson while we weren’t looking. The beefy star has signed up for Michael Lembeck’s comedy The Tooth Fairy, playing an ordinary joe brought in to save the tooth fairy kingdom. (From what: bankruptcy? A tooth shortage? Kimmel’s Revenge
Seems like more people have viewed Jimmy Kimmel’s satiric video about his relationship with Ben Affleck than watched the Oscars. Wrangling a cavalcade of stars in response to girlfriend Sarah Silverman’s video with Matt Damon, which she unveiled on Kimmel’s fifth-anniversary show last month, confessing that she’s been sleeping with the Bourne star, Kimmel’s response has landed two million hits on YouTube.
