02.21.08: Bloom and Molina Get 'An Education', Fincher Falls Into 'Black Hole'

Orlando Bloom, Alfred Molina and Sally Hawkins, who just won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for Happy-Go-Lucky, have joined the cast of Lone Scherfig’s An Education. Set in Swinging ’60s London, the coming-of-age tale revolves around a witty, attractive teen (newcomer Carey Mulligan) who falls for an unsuitable American (Peter Sarsgard). Bloom will play Sarsgard’s charismatic best friend while Molina will play Mulligan’s father. Rounding out the impressive cast are Emma Thompson, Rosamund Pike and Olivia Williams, while About A Boy author Nick Hornby penned the adaptation of Lynn Barber’s memoirs. More at Variety

Watchmen Wraps
Zack Snyder has posted on the official Watchmen blog that shooting on the eagerly anticipated graphic-novel adaptation has wrapped and the lengthy post-production process is in full swing. As a small gift to fanboys tracking Watchmen from start to finish (okay, that would be us…), he’s also posted a new image that shows Jackie Earle Haley’s Rorschach torching a gun-toting adversary. Yates Directing Harry Potter 7?

Or instalments, as Warner Bros are still mulling over an option to split the final book, The Deathly Hallows, into two films. More at The Leaky Cauldron
