Butler Bids New York Adieu
300 star Gerard Butler has opted out of Escape From New York because of creative differences. Exiting Escape won't free Butler up too much, the actor just began production on Game and has P.S., I Love You, Rock N Rolla, and Nim's Island on the horizon. More at Variety.
Spidey Scribe Inks Deal
James Vanderbilt has signed on to write Spider-Man 4. While no plot details have been released and neither stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst or director Sam Raimi have signed, we do know that the goal of 4 is to scale back the franchise, focus on plot rather than special effects, and only have Spidey battle two foes in the film. Dillon Pulls Armored Heist
Matt Dillon will star as an armored car guard who plots to steal his trucks $10 million load in Armored. Stomp the Yard's Columbus Short is also attached to the caper. More at Variety.
Summers' Train Ready To Roll
Police guitarist Andy Summers' autobiography One Train Later is getting the Hollywood treatment. One Train Later will screen footage from Police's current reunion tour along with 25,000 pictures Summers has taken of the band. Film follows him from his English upbringing through today. It's Toon Time For Banderas
Antonio Banderas is collaborating with Spanish animation studio Kandor Graphics to create five animated features in the next ten years. Their first project The Missing Lynx centers on group of animals who escape from a crazy millionaire's version of Noah's Ark and is already in production. Banderas is producing through his Spain-based shingle Green Moon Producciones. More at Variety.
