Wolverine Plays Spring '09
Hugh Jackman returns to the big screen May 1, 2009 in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Liev Schreiber is in talks to star as the younger version of X-Men enemy William Stryker in the Gavin Hood directed adventure. Origins is expected to feature many familiar mutant faces from the previous X-Men films. More at Variety.
Heigl Gets Lost
Katherine Heigl has optioned the film rights to Jacqueline Sheehan's novel Lost & Found. Book follows a psychologist who finds friendship and emotional strength through her relationship with her Labrador retriever after her husband's death. Heigl bought rights for her new production company that she runs with her mother and there has been no mention on whether Heigl will also star in the production. More at the Los Angeles Times.
Basinger and Theron Burn
Kim Basinger is joining Charlize Theron in The Burning Plain. Film marks the directorial debut of Babel scribe Guillermo Arriaga who also wrote Plain. Drama merges two separate storylines and times into one cohesive tale. Basinger plays the mother of Theron's character during the childhood narrative. Theron picks up the line as an adult trying to rectify with her parents after a turbulent childhood. More at Variety.
Karate Not Smith's Style
Will Smith's publicist has denied rumors that Smith will produce and possibly direct a Karate Kid remake with his son Jayden in the title role. His publicist did confirm, however, that Smith will star in Seven Pounds centering on a man who falls in love with a woman with a woman while trying to commit suicide.

Devil Actor Not Forgotten
The Devil Wears Prada blonde hottie Simon Baker is set to star in the psychological thriller Not Forgotten. Baker will play a man who visits a soothsayer to learn more about his daughter's death. Instead of the answers he desires, the old woman's visions threaten to divide him and his wife. More at The Hollywood Reporter.
