Tucker lives Life with Sinatra
Chris Tucker may star in a biopic of George Jacobs, the personal valet to Frank Sinatra who witnessed the comings and goings of Marilyn Monroe, the Kennedy clan, and the Rat Pack, for New Line. Brett Ratner is attached to direct the adaptation of Jacobs’ memoir Mr. S: My Life with Frank Sinatra with the book’s co-author William Stadiem set to write the screenplay. More at Variety.
Fisher is a major Shopaholic
Wedding Crashers star Isla Fisher will star in Jerry Bruckheimer’s adaptation of the bestselling Sophie Kinsella novel Confessions of a Shopaholic for Touchstone. My Best Friend’s Wedding helmer P.J. Hogan is directing the comedy about a debt-ridden financial adviser who goes on frequent shopping benders to calm her nerves. Filming starts in January. More at The Hollywood Reporter.
Narnia’s Dawn Treader pushed back until summer ’08, DreamWorks' Monsters pushed up
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the third book in the C.S. Lewis series to be turned into a film will wait a little longer to go into production. Due to the actors’ schedules, filming will start in summer 2008 meaning a release on May 7, 2010. More at the Hollywood Reporter. In other date changes, DreamWorks’ animated Monsters Vs. Aliens backed off its summer 2009 date to March 27, 2009 to avoid a confrontation with James Cameron’s eagerly anticipated sci-fi epic Avatar. Both films would be competing for 3D enhanced screens. Superhero flies at Dimension with Nielsen, Tambor and Bell
Following in the footsteps of the Scary Movie franchise, Dimension is finally getting around to their comic book themed spoof Superhero and has cast Leslie Nielsen, Jeffrey Tambor, Drake Bell, Sara Paxton, Marion Ross, and Brent Spiner among others for the comedy, which is set to open March 28, 2008. Jay-Z inspired to create companion soundtrack to American Gangster
Jay-Z stepped away from his duties as the president of Def Jam to record a companion album to the upcoming Ridley Scott drama American Gangster.
