McConaughey gets the girl (Garner) for Ghosts and brings lightning to Stiller's Tropic Thunder, Reynolds travels to Adventureland, The Road winds towards Dimension, and more

Catch2Garner haunts McConaughey as a Ghost of Girlfriends Past

Jennifer Garner will star as the childhood sweetheart of Matthew McConaughey in the romantic comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past for director Mark Waters and New Line Cinema. McConaughey plays a confirmed bachelor who is unwittingly reunited with his many girlfriends at his brother’s nuptials. Filming starts in January. More at Variety.

McConaughey steals Wilson’s Thunder

Speaking of the star with the slow drawl, McConaughey has also slipped into the supporting role in Ben Stiller’s comedy Tropic Thunder that was going to be filled by fellow University of Texas alum Owen Wilson. The film is currently shooting in Hawaii. More at Variety.

Reynolds, Stewart take ride into Adventureland

Ryan Reynolds and Kristen Stewart will join Jesse Eisenberg in the comedy Adventureland for Superbad director Greg Mottola and Miramax. Reynolds will play the much idolized leader of a pack of theme park employees, which includes Eisenberg and Stewart. Filming starts in Pittsburgh in October. More at The Hollywood Reporter.

The Road ends at Dimension

Cormac McCarthy’s Oprah endorsed and Pulitzer Prize-winning post apocalyptic novel The Road will park at Dimension Films with The Proposition director John Hillcoat helming and Viggo Mortensen attached to star. Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban’s 2929 Productions is producing the adaptation. More at The Hollywood Reporter.

Condon pondering Pryor biopic

Dreamgirls director Bill Condon is considering helming a biopic about the late comedian Richard Pryor for The Weinstein Company, according to a Scriptland column about the film’s screenwriter Brad Kane in this morning’s Los Angeles Times.
