Timberlake strikes the perfect chord for Myers' Love Guru
Justin Timberlake will reunite with Shrek the Third castmate Mike Myers in The Love Guru, a film which will have Timberlake as a hockey player who romances his teammate’s wife, a situation Myers’ love guru Pitka must resolve. Filming on the Paramount comedy starts next month in Toronto. More at The Los Angeles Times.
Howard joins Tatum’s fight club
Hustle and Flow star Terrence Howard will lace up his gloves for an untitled street fighting drama alongside Step Up star Channing Tatum for A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints director Dito Montiel. Filming starts in September on the Rogue production. More at MTV Movies Blog.
Cube on the Comeback trail for Durst
Ice Cube will star in Comeback, the real life story of a one time prep football star who guides his niece to become the first female quarterback in Pop Warner football history. Former Limp Bizkit lead singer Fred Durst will likely direct the Dimension film, which starts filming in November. Durst recently directed The Education of Charlie Banks. More at Cinematical.
Mottola goes from Superbad to Adventureland
Superbad director Greg Mottola will next direct the semi-autobiographical comedy Adventureland for Miramax about his post-college years as a theme park employee. The Squid and the Whale star Jesse Eisenberg will star in the film, which will start shooting in Pittsburgh this fall. More at Variety.
Schwimmer demands Nothing But the Truth from Lurie
David Schwimmer has joined the cast of the Valerie Plame-inspired thriller Nothing But the Truth from Resurrecting the Champ director Rod Lurie. Schwimmer will star as the husband of a journalist, played by Kate Beckinsale, who refuses to reveal her source after she names a CIA agent in one of her stories. Matt Dillon, Vera Farmiga, Edie Falco, and Alan Alda also star in the indie film. More at The Hollywood Reporter.
Blanchard, Speedman have nothing but Adoration for Egoyan
Rachel Blanchard and Scott Speedman have signed on to star in Adoration, Atom Egoyan’s latest film about identity in the modern age. More at Variety.
Toronto adds Demme and Moore docs, among others
The Toronto Film Festival has added new documentaries by Jonathan Demme (the Jimmy Carter bio Man from Plains) and Michael Moore (Captain Mike Across America), as well as new features from House of Sand and Fog’s Vadim Perelman (In Bloom) and Jason Reitman’s comedy Juno.
