7.28.07: Trailer Made: Comic Con From the Comfort of Home
For everyone not in San Diego this weekend, here's a sampling of what's been going on:
Drillbit Taylor - Owen Wilson's latest finds the former wedding crasher heading to the playground as the bodyguard to two hapless kids in this comedy co-written by Knocked Up's Seth Rogen.
J.J. Abrams' "Cloverfield" - The co-creator of Lost may have revealed more about his update of Star Trek than the monster movie he's currently producing - he didn't even say the title. But here's a look the film that surprised the world when the first teaser was attached to Transformers:
Beowulf - Although Robert Zemeckis wasn't able to make it down for Thursday's panel, Beowulf co-writers Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary introduced the first trailer for the motion capture action film that stars Ray Winstone, Angelina Jolie, and Anthony Hopkins. See it here...
Shoot Em Up - Michael Davis, the film's director who was about to give up helming to go teach in South Carolina, became one of Comic Con's biggest heroes with an early screening of the actioner he made with Clive Owen that he calls "John Woo's wet dream." See why here...
New Line, the studio behind Shoot 'Em Up, also premiered new footage of their fantasy epic The Golden Compass, which Yahoo has thankfully put up for all to see here.
Blade Runner: The Final Cut - After 25 years, Ridley Scott is finally releasing his version of his classic sci-fi adaptation of Philip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" Scott came down to Comic Con on Friday to promote the release of the Final Cut, which will both receive a theatrical release in October and then hit DVD shelves in December. See what all the fuss is about...
300 DVD - Besides talking Watchmen, Zack Snyder also indulged fans who wanted to find out what it was like to work with really hot, sweaty men on the Grecian epic before heading across the street to Petco Park where the film was screened for 10,000 fans in anticipation of its home video release next Tuesday, July 31. Yahoo has a first look at the disc's special features here.
And even the fans at Comic Con will have to wait to get to their computers to see the first teaser for Batman's return in The Dark Knight, but you can check it out here:
